History

Great men say: "Yesterdays are dead pasts". But we don’t forget the past. We always recall the past events which had been recorded in our mind. The Tsunami rescue and relief works in the coastal villages of India took us to rehabilitation works. During that period we saw the worries, rooted sadness and frustrations of families and individuals with huge loss. These tragic sights made our mind to start a Children home at Vengadampatty and we started it the 5th June 2005 with empty hands. Initially we started with 26 children and improved to 43 kids now at present. When we started the children home we had no building, no money and no support.

The existing “EILEEN- CLAUDIA HALL”, which had been donated by a volunteer and her wonderful mother, helped us for the stay and slowly we raised buildings, toilets, kitchen, office, pet area, in January 2006.

Mr James, a kind father of a volunteer helped us with running costs in the first year. Mr. Angus, a man of principles, helped us by sponsoring a building and we named it “FAILTE”. Our “BELL HALL” had been donated by Mrs. Sheila Bell and her daughter Olivia. The financial helps of Rosie, Harry, Alice, Malinda, Ursula, Claudia, Rosanna, Rebecca, Olivia, Charles, Roddy, Ben and Eileen encouraged us to do more and more for our kids. All the time there are good people like Jago, Kevin, Tamara, Cassie, Brian, Linda, Chiara, Massimiliano, Claudia, Adam, Monica, James Faber, J.R.D. Silva, Sally, John Cole, Edward, Daniel, Dan, Michael, Daniela, Furgan, Viola, Kamil, Laura, Chris, Irene, Becky, Sami, Nicola, Emily, Warren to give their “powerful fingers”, when we drown in suffering. Even the minutest movement causes a pleasant thrill in our children’s mind.

A photography exhibition in the name of “HEART PRINTS “ had been organized by Jago, by giving individual cameras to all the kids.Cassie arranged “Pen Pals” for our children. Kevin and Tamara donated racks for the girls; Viola tooth brushes; J.R.D. Silva bicycles; Rosie Pet area; Ailsa and Olivia “wall paintings” and we never forget the student community of Universities and Schools, who helped us through our volunteers. Our kids are so lucky to meet good people all over the world. They feel happy and safe when volunteers like Kamil, Laura, Tamara, Kevin took them for washing in the morning and teach them in the evening. Now the kids improved their English!
